Congers is a hamlet located in the town of Clarkstown in Rockland County, New York. The hamlet is surrounded by bodies of water including Lake Deforest, Congers Lake, Rockland Lake, Swarthout Lake and Hudson River. It is located about 30 miles from New York City. The zip code of Congers is 10920.

Congers is a suburban community consisting mostly of residential areas amidst heavy wooded areas and multiple lakes. The two main routes passing through Congers are Route 303 and 9W, which run in the south-north direction and host most of the local businesses.

According to the United States Census Bureau, as of 2000 Congers has a population of more than 8,000 residents. The hamlet has a total area of 3.9 square miles with 0.7 square miles of water. It is located at a slight elevation of over 150 feet above sea level.

The racial demographics of Congers are 85.2% White, 1.8% African American, 0.2% Native American, 8.6% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 2.1% from other races, and 2.0% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race are 7.6% of the population.

Congers is served by the Clarkstown Central School District and is home to Congers Elementary School. Additionally, the hamlet is home to the private school of Rockland Country Day School.

Congers is home to the Rockland Lake State Park, which includes Rockland lake, tennis courts, two large and two kiddy swimming pools, Rockland Lake Championship Golf Course and Rockland Lake Executive Golf Course. The park also offers picnicking and grilling, boating, and plenty of trails for jogging and biking. Additionally there are hiking trails leading to Hook Mountain, which gives scenic views of Rockland County and the Hudson River. There is a variety of diverse wildlife all over Rockland Lake State Park, with great fishing opportunities. Rockland Lake is open year round and is without a doubt of the best in Rockland County and attracts masses of local and even distant residents who enjoy a busy perfect summer day or simple winter walk.

Another recreational area in the hamlet is the Congers Lake Memorial Park, which covers about 178 acres and includes Swimming Pool, Bathhouse, Water Slide Community Center Refreshment Stand, Tennis Courts, Area Playground, Handball Court & Bocci Court Ball fields, Basketball Courts, all situated along a 100 acre lake.

Congers is home to the historic Dr. Davies farm which offers fresh fruit and vegetables and great apple picking opportunities.
